Note that most specialist will focus their diagnosis and management  on their area of expertise and do NOT manage hEDS/HSDs as a whole.


General Physicians can help with the general management of hEDS/HSDs but sometimes may prefer to treat specific aspects.


GPs and allied health clinicians who are experienced working with HSD/hEDS patients can assist with referrals to specialist who are aware of the condition.

Allergy/ MCAS Specialists

Dr Luckshman Ganesh

 Specialist in clinical immunology and allergy. 

Dr Ganesh is a specialist clinician with expertise in mast cell related pathologies that co-exist with hEDS/HSDs. NOTE: Dr Ganesh does NOT diagnose or manage hEDS specifically.

Dr Dan Bates

 Sports and Exercise Medicine Specialist

  • Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc (HONS))
  • Bachelor of Medicine (B.Med)
  • Fellow of the Australian College of Sports and Exercise Medicine (FACSEM)

 

Dr Dan Bates works full time with people suffering back, neck and joint pain. 

His research career has been broad covering exercise induced asthma, examination techniques, biologics, osteoarthritis, chronic pain and neuromodulation. Dr Bates has experience working with patients with HSD/hEDS. He does not diagnose or manage hEDs specifically, but has expertise to help with the pain and joint instability that arises from these conditions.

Dr David Fineberg

 

Specialist GP and PhD candidate with an interest in ME/CFS, Long COVID, POTS

Dr David Fineberg is a General Practitioner and PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, specialising in complex chronic illnesses including ME/CFS, Long COVID, POTS, and other overlapping neuroimmune and autonomic conditions. He is the founder of the ME Research Clinic (MERC), a dedicated service offering comprehensive clinical assessment and management of ME/CFS and Long COVID, including support with NDIS, TPD, and DSP applications. 

We welcome new patients (current waitlist ~5 months). Patients are encouraged to explore research opportunities that align with their capacity and interests, with full information provided to support informed choices regardless of illness severity.

Note that Dr Fineberg does not diagnose or management hEDS/HSD specifically but can help with the complications of these conditions (eg. ME/CFS and POTS)
